But I don't want pancakes....
ARLINGTON, TX - Being a photographer is great. Love the job. My son Matthew (8), pictured here, says he wants to be a photographer when he grows up. That's great, too. But about 99% of the time he won't let me photograph him. It's like a Bigfoot believer actually living with Bigfoot. You know he's real, but you have no photographic proof. This was a fleeting instant this morning, like they all are. Managed to reel off six shots in about 20 seconds. Dang-near a record.

Mean Green and Manhattan
DENTON, TX - Mean Green fans will have a lot to cheer about this fall as The University of North Texas football team takes the field at an all new facility, now under construction. The new UNT Stadium is being built by Manhattan Construction. They know a thing or two about building stadiums....having built the Dallas Cowboys Stadium in Arlington.
I did a location scout today with Manhattan officials in preparation for final photography which will take place likely sometime in August. Check out other architectural work at my website.

Texas Ranger Adrian Beltre brushes up on 'Building Smiles'
GRAND PRAIRIE, TX - Texas Rangers third baseman Adrian Beltre was on-hand at a "Building Smiles Together" event and participated in a 'brush-a-thon' with local YMCA kids in an effort to teach the kiddos good oral hygiene. New York, NY-based Cohn & Wolfe handled PR for the Colgate/Wal-Mart event and called on Kevin Brown to capture images for immediate release to the media.

Ryan Palmer Leading U.S. Open
Ryan Palmer has jumped out to an early lead at the U.S. Open. I had the pleasure of meeting and photographing Palmer a couple of times at the Byron Nelson Tourney. Here's a shot from that event back in 2007.

A gentler 'Giant' comes to Texas
ARLINGTON, TX - The Texas Giant came on the coaster scene at Six Flags Over Texas back in 1990. I remember it well. I was tasked with shooting forward and reverse POV footage for the park. I had to ride the coaster (then the tallest wooden roller coaster in the world) a whopping 26 times...in one day. I'm still recovering.
The original ride was a true monster. With unmatched thrills, the ride was quickly declared the #1 Wooden Roller Coaster in the World by the American Coaster Enthusiasts.
Over the years, the Texas Giant grew into a fairly rough-and-tumble experience, ridden by only the bravest souls that were willing to subject themselves to the shakes and rattles the ride would dish out.
But not anymore...
Move over Texas Giant and make way for the New Texas Giant. Completely rebuilt, the ride is now thought to be THE smoothest wooden roller coaster in the world. This 'new and improved' Giant now boasts a 79 degree drop and has banks that go beyond vertical, up to 95 degrees. Yikes.
I spent the afternoon today shooting the Giant from top to bottom for long-time client Six Flags Over Texas. If you live in Dallas-Fort Worth or the surrounding area, you need to make a plan to ride this ride. Park guests were 'all smiles' as they left the station house.

Junior High School Musical
Congrats to 14 year old 'Chase' for winning the top prize at the Betty Buckley Awards in Fort Worth recently. The young actor/singer is off to New York to chase his dream of being a star....and it was time for a new headshot. Bravo Chase.

Say Cheese?
The ol' cliche expression 'say cheese' is something that you'll never hear a professional photographer 'udder.' (sorry)
However, the phrase could have been put into use on a recent shoot for new client Dairy.com. The executive team at Plano, TX-based Dairy.com put on their happy faces for new and updated portraits.
No, I didn't instruct folks to say cheese. I just told them to think of happy cows. Worked like a charm.

Welcome to PixelChatter Daily
With forty issues of PixelChatter in the archives, I thought it might be time for a change. Welcome to PixelChatter Daily.
While it won't have the slick magazine-style layout of its forefather, the young PixelChatter Daily will have fresh content posted, well...daily. New pages will spring up from time to time and each month a different area of my work will be featured. For June, be sure to check out the 'Focus on Industrial'.
Creating the monthly magazine formatted PixelChatter was a huge task. The PDF files were big and folks with slower systems had trouble viewing. This new version is formatted as more of a blog and is more streamlined and quicker to edit.
I've jump-started the new site with some images from shoots done earlier in the year. There are quite a few postings from shoots going back to January.
As we move forward, you'll begin to see more photos accompanied by short articles - similar to what I did in the original PixelChatter.
As always, I welcome your feedback.
I hope you enjoy the new site and hope you'll bookmark it and share with friends and colleagues.
All the best and I hope your summer kicks off to a great start!

Well, it's a hole in the ground....
It might just be a hole in the ground now, but in 2012 State Fair of Texas visitors will feast their eyes upon a 500 foot tall observation tower ride. The ride will hold 100 passengers. The 212-foot tall Texas Star ferris wheel is visible in the distance in this photo.

State Fair of Texas kicks off in 128 days, 22 hours, 6 minutes...
The State Fair of Texas has been a client since 2003. I've shot literally tens of thousands of photos at the Fair and wouldn't trade for the experience or opportunity. Although it's only May, the countdown is on and the folks at the biggest state fair in the nation are working hard to kick things off. Opening day is September 30.

Back to Del Rio, Texas
A third visit to Del Rio, Texas had me shooting more construction progress photos for Conroe, TX client Pate Transportation Partners. I've done a good bit of shooting for Pate over the last 3-4 years and I always look forward to the shoots. I've grown accustomed to the all-night concrete pours as well as the long hot summer days out on the asphalt. Some great photo ops, though, for sure.

Welcome to something new....
With 40 issues of my e-newsletter PixelChatter created since 2005, I've decided to try something different. Welcome to PixelChatter Daily.
There's not a lot of content here....yet, but it will build over time. I hope you'll come back daily and check out new images and other posts that might make you laugh, will amaze you, or strike a chord in some fashion.
Thanks for checking it out!

Janie Fricke Shoot - May 2011
Janie Fricke is 1980s country royalty. As CMA Female Vocalist of the Year two consecutive years, 1981-1982, she was at the top of the list in female country superstars of that era.
Now living south of Dallas on an 8 acre spread, Janie Fricke still has a golden voice. She called on me to come to her home and shoot a few new publicity stills. We spent the afternoon shooting around her historic home, once the home of Pat Garrett, the man who tracked and gunned down Billy the Kid back in the day. That nostalgic old west flavor still resonates thru Fricke's home.
A few years ago, I shot the cover photo for Fricke's latets CD release, Roses and Lace. We hit it off (she's a true sweetheart) and have kept in touch since. I was happy to get a call from her to shoot once again. I was sad, however, to learn that Fricke and George Jones will be performing together in early June...and that I'll be unable to attend. Here's hoping they team up again for a little country music magic and that I can be front and center, toe-tapping to two of country's greatest stars.
National RV Storage Shoot - April 2011
The last year has seen a good number of shoots at National Indoor RV Storage. This is their first location, in Denton, Texas. Got a big motor coach you need to store, these are your guys. They also sell used coaches. Get out your checkbook.
Dupree Dance Shoot - April 2011
The Dupree Dance team spent a day with Kevin Brown shooting individual shots of all of their team members in various dance poses, including ballet, jazz etc. Next up was shooting them as their superhero alter egos. Fun shoot.
Steinbrecher shoot - March 2011
Author, executive coach, and speaker Susan Steinbrecher was looking for an updated headshot and Kevin Brown put his talents to work. Follow Steinbrecher on Twitter.
Edgen Murray Shoot - March 2011
International steel distributor Edgen Murray desired to deepen their image archives and contacted Kevin Brown about shooting a huge pipeline installation near Nacogdoches, Texas.
